Chelsea and Senegal striker Nicholas Jackson has defended his teammate Enzo Fernandez, who was seen singing an allegedly racist song about France during Argentina's team celebration after winning the 2024 Copa America.
Jackson took to Instagram to share two images of Enzo. One was of the Argentine with a young black Chelsea fan, and the other was of Jackson himself with Enzo.
The Senegalese player's post was in response to accusations of racism against Enzo following the video that went viral on social media.
In contrast, Chelsea and French defender Wesley Fofana criticised Enzo on Twitter and Instagram, sharing the video with the caption: "Football in 2024: uninhibited racism."
Enzo Fernandez has since apologised for the incident, admitting that the song contained "highly offensive language."
Chelsea Football Club have also condemned Enzo's actions and is reportedly investigating the incident.
