Serbia win just the beginning - Ayew

Ghana forward Andre Ayew has promised his side will continue to do all they can to make their country and continent proud after enjoying a dream start to their World Cup campaign.

However, he also warned against getting too carried away with their 1-0 win over Serbia, pointing out they have tough hurdles still to negotiate.

Ghana, who reached the last 16 on their World Cup debut four years ago before being knocked out by Brazil, are in a strong position after seeing off Serbia with a late Asamoah Gyan penalty.

But, with games against wounded Australia and group favourites Germany to come, they cannot take anything for granted.

"We are happy and we hope that we are going to continue like this because this is just the beginning. The hard times are to come in the next two games," said Ayew.

"South Africa is behind us and all of the African teams. We are going to do everything to make South Africa and Ghana proud."
