Sergio’s CV better than Kenichi's – Vincent Odotei

The Strategic Committee Chairman of Hearts Of Oak, Vincent Odotei Sowah has said that newly appointed club Youth coach, Sergio Daniel Traguil has better curricula vitae (CV) than senior coach, Kenichi Yatsushashi.

According to the renowned politician cum football administrator, the Portuguese has experience having worked at the Benfica and Kaduna United, but Kenichi never had that experience before the club engaged him.

He said the club acquired the services of the 35-year-old and his assistant to build quality youth team and scout quality players which would be trapped into the senior team.

“The time I have spent in football and the experience I have acquired in football management tells me that your greatest asset and your production of quality players is down to scouting and good financial management,” Mr. Sowah said in an interview with Kumasi-based radio station, Sikka FM.

He explained that: “Scouting is very key because football business is a long gestation and it follows something we call ‘the pareto phenomenon’. Eighty percent (80%) of your business is bought by only 10%.

“So when scouting is well done, within five years one player can help you recoup what you’ve invested. When we look at his (Sergio Daniel Traguil) CV he has coached in the Portuguese second division and he did very well. He also had stints with Benfica.

“As we speak what we got from Kenichi (Yatsushashi), what he (Sergio) has is far better. At least he has coached in Nigeria with Kaduna United and currently Argo football club so he has some little relevant Africa football experience.” He noted.

Sportscrusader.com understands that Sergio Traguil is yet to officially write on the dotted lines confirming his commitment to the 2001 CAF Champions League winners, but Mr Sowah says the club has negotiated everything with him and will hand him either one and half season or two football seasons contract.

He however cleared the notion that Sergio is in the country to take over the technical team duties from Kenichi Yatsushashi.

“We have negotiated everything and we intend to offer him one and half seasons or two football seasons contract.

“But let me add that he is not here to take Kenichi’s job. It is not true that he is here to replace him.” He stated.
