Shani Abdul Basit, a 24 year old
National Service person from Yendi was declared winner of the Soccer Xtra
Predict & Win SMS Promotion organised by Optimum Media Prime (OMP) and
shown on Metro TV during the FIFA Confederations Cup held in Brazil and the
recent FIFA Under 20 World Cup which took place in Turkey.
Basit who is did Integrated
Development Studies at the University of Development Studies UDS at the Wa
Campus was rewarded with a brand new Dougfeng H30 Cross Sports Car presented by
Platimum Motors.
He said it was his luck that won him
the fantastic prize in the free, fair and transparent real competition and
appealed to Metro TV to extend their coverage to Yendi as he texted at Tamale
before winning.
Sheriff Issah won a paid trip to
London to watch Manchester City play Chelsea, whilst Sulemana Aminu got a
returned ticket to South Africa.
George Frimpong was among the lucky
winners to get a set of Yokohama Tires just like Victor Ato Mensah, and Abraham
Quaye.
Five rlg laptop were presented to
Ofori Kingsly, Mohammed Sulemana, Adeyena Tetteh, Samson Yaw Opoku and David
Kwabena Kpeglo as Muntakil Alhassan and Alex Asamoah earned returned tickets to
Abidjan.
Francisca Tawiah Ako from Chorkor
was not left out as she also got 50 gallons of Petrol from Quantum Petroleum
Ltd.
The winners participated in a
competition that they only predicted the outcome of every match by texting A, B
or C to short code 1950 on MTN, Vodafone, Tigo and Expresso.
The daily winners of each game were
presented with prizes on the Soccer Xtra Show on Metro TV, and others had the
privilege of hosting Metro TV crew in their homes to receive their prizes.
The competition spanned 30 days and
saw 141 participants across the country getting prizes ranging from Akai 21
inches Television Sets, Sumsung Galaxy Grand Smart Phones, Samsung Digital
Cameras, Bluetooth Earpieces, Alphaline Car Battries, GHC 200 worth of MTN Talk
Time and GHC 200 worth of Gift Vouchers from Marina Mall.

Air, MTN, Quantum Petroleum, Samir Engineering and Marina Mall were the
sponsors.
Neilo Armstrong Mortagbe, Managing
Director of OMP commended the sponsors and the lucky winners for making Metro
TV part of their lives and urged them to keep on watching the station as there
are many wonderful surprises coming up. He noted that Ghana is a strong
football nation and prayed that the nation qualifies for the 2014 FIFA World
Cup for Metro TV to dish out surprises again.
Chief Marketing Officer of OMP, Mr. Alain Vijnard, said the competition was an
initiative of OMP to promote football, especially the 2013 FIFA events and also
to reward loyal customers.
Female soccer star, Samira Suleimana
of Hasaacas Ladies Football team who was among the guests at the draw commended
Metro TV for supporting football fans and hinted that Ghana Female Football
will rise if more companies support them like they did to the Soccer Xtra draw.
