AshantiGold head coach, Kassim Gökyildiz, has attributed his side's inability to score goals in the Ghana Premier League to the absence of his captain Shafiu Mumuni.

Ashantigold's inability to score goals has been the subject of discussions as the Obuasi-based club prepares to host a free-scoring side Liberty Professionals at the Len Clay Sports Stadium today.

After engaging Hearts of Oak in a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, coach Kassim edged the new strikers who have been given the opportunity in the absence of Mumuni to step up their game and start scoring for the Miners.

“As everyone knows, our captain, Mumuni, has not played since the match in Week 4 and that means that other strikers have to step up but they will need time to adopt"

"A player like Mumuni will be very good for all teams and if such a player leaves, it is difficult to replace him"

"However, we have given chances to the other strikers we have and we look to the future and hope that they will start scoring the goals for us.”

“We play at home and so, the plan is to go all out and get only one result which is the victory,” he told the media
