Roller Skaters across the country had the opportunity to thrill hundreds of spectators to fantastic skating displays at this year’s Miksi Roller Games Challenge held at the West Hills Mall on Saturday.
This year’s event saw the participation of children as young as 4-years participating in the event as well as retired skaters. The skaters were engaged in series of battles which included speed games, high jump, long jump, slalom slide, slalom freestyle and many others.
The Miksi Roller Game tournament is an annual skating competition opened to all professional skaters in the country. The tournament was organized by the Miksi Brand in partnership with the National Skating Federation.
The Brands Manager of the company revealed that Miksi is committed at developing grass root sports and assisting the youth embrace their talent.
“We realized that skating is a very healthy game that our youth like to participate in so we chanced on it and for the past three years we are happy to see them compete among their selves. We take good care of them and the winners of every competition take prizes such as products, souvenirs and cash prizes. Skaters also gain qualification into international events,” Magnus Dei said.
According to the President of the Ghana Olympics Committee, Ben Nunoo Mensah plans were also far advanced to see Ghana compete in roller games at international stages.
He also noted that the International Olympics Committee also envisions skating as the sport for the future.
