Deputy General Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Obiri Boahene, has hit out at so-called ‘football people’ who are seeking to lead Ghana football after the Normalization Committee vacates its post in September.

There have been debates on who should be allowed to lead Ghana football after the exit of the Normalization Committee.

Some have argued that the very football people who had the power to call former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi to order when he was running the Football Association are not fit to contest since they were all part of the corrupt regime.

The other argument is that, the team during the Nyantakyi era did their best to advise him but to no avail.

Speaking on Kumasi based Nhyira FM, the outspoken Lawyer said, “None of the names flying out can lead our football, George Afriyie and the so-called football people can not handle our football with honesty. We shouldn’t be afraid as a people to tell them, if we don’t tell them, our football will not have a great future that we seek” he concluded.

Lawyer Obiri Boahen believes that the people have not learnt their lessons even after Anas’ Expose.

He cited Kotoko supporter ‘shishila’ and officiating officials bribery scandal and how it was handled.

The Normalization Committee has stated that, election for the highly demanding posts will take place on 27th September, 2019.

Lawyer Obiri Boahen, however, refused to confirm or deny his intentions to contest for the GFA Presidency as been reported in the media.
