So long to Sarpong

England -- Wycombe Wanderers have given Ghana "international" striker Emmanuel Sarpong the boot after just one reserve game during his trial at Adams Park.

They have sent him home with nothing more than a stamp in his passport to show for his spell in England.

Lawrie Sanchez saw enough of the 31-year-old in Wednesday's 2-1 reserve defeat against Leyton Orient to make his decision.

He said: "He did OK without setting the world alight. He wasn't any better than what we have already got."

Sanchez could have kept Sarpong for another week and played him in Tuesday's Berks and Bucks Cup tie at Burnham, when The Blues will be short of players because the first team will be in Chesterfield, but he decided it was not worth building the player's hopes up.

The out-of-work hitman, who had been plying his trade in Belgium with Endracht Hehelgem, arrived in Buckinghamshire on the recommendation of an agent.
