Soccer For Dreamers, an NGO founded by three Ghanaian brothers who play school soccer in the United States, has once again provided valuable lessons in menstrual hygiene to selected female football clubs in Ghana.

The menstrual health pep-talk and donation of sporting equipment took place at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association on Friday, July 12.

The event also featured the donation of menstrual cups to the female footballers present, as well as other sporting gear to selected male teams and a disabled football club based in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

This is the third consecutive year that Soccer for Dreamers has donated sporting gear, and menstrual cups, and offered education on menstrual hygiene to young professional and aspiring female footballers in Ghana.

For the males, they benefited from health talks on diet, injuries, and general well-being for the success of their careers.

This year's event targeted five women's teams from the Greater Accra Region, four male teams from the Eastern Region, and one disability team from Kumasi.

Explaining the rationale for selecting the beneficiary teams, the President of Soccer For Dreamers, Mrs. Sylvia Akwaboah, said it was to ensure that the initiative spreads its wings to support as many teams as possible. The inclusion of the disability team was indicative of its goal to enhance inclusivity.

"The main aim of this initiative is to support all players everywhere, irrespective of where they are. For the first time, we have a disability team benefiting because we have been following the country's exploits in disability football and we are excited to provide our widow's mite to support them," Mrs. Akwaboah said.

This initiative was put together by three brothers - Baruch, Jed, and Kayden Akwaboah - who play school soccer in the USA. It is their way of supporting young footballers in Ghana who are dreaming of making something meaningful out of the sport.
