Reigning African Women's High Jump champion, Rose Amoanemaah Yeboah, did not advance to the next stage of the high jump event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, leaving some Ghanaians feeling disappointed.

Before the competition, there were high public expectations for Rose due to her impressive personal record of over 1.9 meters.

On social media, particularly on X, reactions were mixed. Some users praised Rose and encouraged her to perform better in future Olympics.

Others expressed disappointment and questioned why Ghanaian athletes often struggle in international competitions.

About Rose Yeboah’s performance at the 2024 Olympic Games

Making her debut and becoming the first Ghanaian female high jumper to compete at the Olympics, Rose qualified from the preliminaries on her third attempt.

She initially failed the first two attempts but cleared 1.88m on the third to progress to the next round.

However, after three more attempts, she failed to clear 1.92m and did not make it to the final.

Rose finished 14th, just missing out on the top 12 high jumpers who advanced to the final on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

She is Ghana's second athlete, after Harry Stacey, to compete at the 2024 Olympics out of the nine participating athletes.

Both were eliminated in the first round, with Stacey finishing 7th in the Men's 100m freestyle.
