The incredible work of Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah with the Sudanese national team has been recognized by the Confederation of African Football with a nomination in the CAF Coach of the Year category of the 2024 CAF Awards.

Kwasi Appiah, who is the only Ghanaian coach in the category, has enjoyed a stellar time with Sudan, putting the war-torn country on the brink of qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Appiah, who was appointed in September 2023, has built a great team that is yet to lose a game in 2024.

In 12 matches played since Kwasi Appiah took over as coach, the Falcons of Jediane have lost just one.

In the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Kwasi Appiah’s Sudan are a draw away from qualification with seven points from four matches.

They also sit at the top of Group B of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with ten points from four matches, leading Senegal by two points.

Kwasi Appiah will be battling Ivory Coast’s AFCON-winning coach Emerse Fae, Hugo Broos, and five others for the award.

Kwasi Appiah became topical recently after he led his Sudanese side to achieve favorable results against the Black Stars of Ghana.

Sudan drew with Ghana at home on October 20 and defeated the Black Stars 2-0 in the reverse fixture in Libya.
