Black Stars winger Solomon Asante has described TP Mazembe’s journey to the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup final as a tough one.

“Today’s game was a difficult one for us. We never had it easy,” Solomon Asante said after the Congolese side qualified at the expense of Etoile Sportive du Sahel having played 0-0 drawn game with the Tunisian giant on Sunday.

“My coach spoke to me prior to the game so I knew what was expected of me before I entered the got onto the field. I provided several assists, but we were not able to convert the chances into goals,” Solomon Asante said.

“I also need to congratulate our opponent, Etoile du Sahel. We thought they were going to play a defensive game, but we were surprised as they came all attacking,” he noted.

“I had the chance to play in the Confederations Cup final when I first signed for TP Mazembe in the year 2013 but the trophy unfortunately slipped through our fingers so we are bent on winning it this time,” the former Berekum Chelsea attacker added.

The first leg in Souse, Tunisia ended 1-1 thus giving TP Mazembe the nod to the finals via the away goal rule.

The finals of the 2015/2016 CAF Confederation Cup will witness a clash between the Lubumbashi side (TP Mazembe) and MO Bejaia from Algeria who edged out FUS Rabat of Morocco in the semi final stage.
