Diminutive Ghana winger Solomon Asante says he is delighted to have returned to the starting line-up which coincided with his teams rise to the summit of Group A in the ongoing CAF Champions League.
TP Mazembe regained the lead in Group A of the African Champions League after dominating and beating Egyptian side Smouha by a goal to nil.
Solomon Asante who has been conspicuously missing in action for Mazembe in their last three games was restored to their starting lineup and played a key role as the Lubumbashie based club reclaimed top spot in Group A.
Roger Assale’s strike gave Patrice Carteron’s side all three points and most importantly gave them first place in Group A and Asante who came close on several occasions to sealing the game says he is happy for the group.
“It’s always special to play at home and certainly the crowd did extremely well to help us get here,” Asante said after the game
“I am delighted for my performance and I believe that as a team we can achieve more as a unit with the same level of professionalism we have exhibited.”
“We will revel in this victory and get back to work tomorrow morning.”
Mazembe now have eight points three more than Al Hilal who surprisingly stumbled to a defeat at the hands of Moghreb Tetouan.
