In a hard-fought USL Championship Round 1 match, Las Vegas Lights FC played out a 1-1 draw against Orange County SC at Cashman Field on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Solomon Asante, a Ghanaian winger, provided a crucial assist to help his side earn a point.

Orange County SC struck first in the 16th minute when Christopher Hegardt fired a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner, assisted by Ethan Zubak. Las Vegas Lights responded ten minutes later.

Asante delivered a pinpoint cross from the right, which found Khori Bennett in the box. Bennett’s powerful header from close range leveled the score at 1-1 in the 26th minute.

Despite dominating possession with 65% of the ball and attempting 12 shots, Las Vegas struggled to break down Orange County's defense further. Asante played until the 79th minute before being substituted.

This draw marks Asante's fourth assist in his 28 appearances this season.

Las Vegas Lights FC will look to build on this performance when they face Birmingham Legion FC on October 13.
