Songne Yacouba hands in transfer request, doubtful for Hearts clash

Burkina Faso international Songne Yacouba has told Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko he wants to leave the club and join Egyptian Premier League side FC Smouha, according to Kumasi-based Kessben FM.

The 28-year-old goal-poacher has failed to renew his contract with the red-jerseyed Porcupine Warrior despite several attempts by the Baba Yara club to get him to commit to a new deal.

Kotoko boss Dr Kwame Kyei revealed last week that his outfit would not be able to meet the demands of Yacouba and are willing to let him go.

According to the Kotoko Executive Board Chairman the striker is demanding $150,000 before inking a new deal.

The former Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou striker’s current contract has just three months to run out.

According to Kessben FM’s Midfield Action Sports Kotoko’s hierarchy have decided against keeping the player and are set to invite bid from Smouha who have reportedly expressed interest in the player.

The ongoing uncertainty over the Bobo-Dioulasso-born forward’s future means Maxwell Konadu is unlikely to include him in his 18-man match-day squad for their trip to Ghana’s capital for the Ghana Premier League top-liner against bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

Kotoko seems to have prepared for life after the striker, who is deemed the most dangerous player in their folds, by signing former Karela United goal-getter William Opoku Mensah.
