South Africa Airways Report Hearts To Police

Soccer Express investigations have revealed that South African airline, South African Airways has reported Accra Hearts of Oak to the Police following the club’s inability to pay for tickets it secured on credit for its African Champions League trip to Angola in May.

The airline, which currently has a monopoly on the Accra-Johannesburg route, reportedly issued tickets on credit to the Hearts contingent, which flew to Luanda, Angola for the first leg1/8th stage of the Champions League against AS Aviacao.

South African Airways are said to have reported Hearts to the Nima Police after entreaties to the Phobians had yielded no result.

Hearts reportedly issued post-dated cheques for an amount which could not be confirmed by our sources, but a Hearts management official who spoke to the Soccer Express on the condition of anonymity confirmed that Hearts have since been to see the police to help in their investigations.

The Hearts official said his club had no option but to travel to Angola on credit because it had no funds to purchase tickets, and said initially the plan was to pay the monies through league proceeds but things went totally wrong leading to the inability to make good on the payment.

South African Airways has a cash-down policy and the credit facility to Hearts is seen by many insiders in the travel industry as a decision that may cause heads to roll at the airline, which is currently Africa’s most successful, having captured the entire Southern African Region, and has a strong presence in most parts of the continent.

Soccer Express investigations are ongoing on the matter.
