Spanish La Liga side Eibar unveil Derek Boateng

Newly promoted Spanish La Liga side Eibar have unveiled Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng ahead of the start of the season this weekend.

The ceremony took place at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua in the Basque country and signed a one-year deal.

Boateng is now set to make a return to the Spanish top-flight after playing for Getafe between 2009 and 2011 before leaving for Ukrainian side FC Dnipro.

He could make his debut on Sunday if head coach Gaizka Garitano is satisfied with his fitness level for the home match against Real Sociedad.

The 31-year-old said: “I’m very happy to play in the league. I want to give my best in Eibar.” Eibar president Alex Aranzabal said Boateng is a “proven” and “experienced” signing.

Boateng has been capped 26 times by Ghana and has played in two FIFA World Cup finals Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010.
