Special Competition: Elmina Sharks 1-0 Inter Allies

Elmina Sharks handed Inter Allies a painful 1-0 defeat in the final match of the Special Competition at the Nduom Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Benjamin Tweneboah’s late penalty goal helped the hosts to wrap their campaign with a win despite Allies dominating possessions.

Technical Adviser Umit Turmus made no changes to the side that beat WAFA SC 4-2 at the Tema Sports Stadium last week.

The Capelli Boys settled quickly and made statement of intent, enjoying the lion share of possession.

The attacking trio of Abraham Okyere, Samuel Armah and David Tetteh caused problems for the home side but failed to break their defensive set up.

Despite seeing the ball more, Allies couldn’t find the back of the net going into the mandatory halfway break with both teams drawing blank.

The early embers of the second half came in good fortunes for Allies, Michel Otou, Samuel Armah and Abdul Nassiru Hamzah went close to the opener but the goalkeeper did well to deny them.

However, the tables turned with a quarter of an hour left on the clock, Ishmael Otutey tripped his marker in the box.

Benjamin Tweneboah stood up and buried it to the top corner, Saed Salifu did his best but couldn’t save the situation.

Sharks firmly held on to the final whistle.
