Special Competition: Kotoko commence Asante Mampong camping ahead of Hearts clash

Asante Kotoko will begin a four-day residential camping in Asante Mampong on Monday ahead of their possible Normalisation Committee Tier-One semi-final tie against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

According to the club’s Kotoko Express App, Coach CK Akonnor, is moving the team to the mountainous town to keep the players focused on the one-off game which will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Porcupines will drive straight to Accra on Saturday should it be confirmed that the team will honour the game.

The Porcupines pulled out of the competition last Tuesday, following their disapproval of the choice of venue and the 30 percent earmarked for them from the gate proceeds.

Discussions are however ongoing between Asante Kotoko and the NC, and it is likely that the club would rescind their decision.

The NC has indicated that it will grant Asante Kotoko’s legitimate wish for 40 percent of the gate proceeds.

Asante Kotoko are, however, insisting that the decision be communicated in writing to enable them to decide on their earlier stance.
