Tema, June 17, GNA - All is set for the second annual Spinal Awareness Open Golf Championship scheduled for Saturday, June 19, at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema.
Mr Oswald Amuzu, Competition Secretary of the Club, who disclosed this at Tema on Thursday, said about 120 golfers were expected to participate in the one-day 18 Hole Stable-ford event.
He said the event which would be played in accordance with the regulations of the world's golf governing body, has Handicap 18 as the entry requirement.
Mr Amuzu said the event which was opened to amateur golfers was being sponsored by six corporate bodies. He named them as Holiday Inn, Millicom Ghana Limited, Say Cheers Company, Blue Skies Company and Ice Cool Company. Dr Bryan Cox, Chief Executive of Spinal Clinic and Chiropractic around the world, a non-governmental organisation and event organizers, said the competition formed part of its social responsibility to teach Ghanaians about spinal health, healthy living and the benefits of chiropractic. He said last year more than 2,000 people received chiropractic treatment and expressed the hope that this year the number would be doubled. Among an array of golfers expected to be seen in action are Pierre Coussey, Captain, Akwasi Opoku, Joe Ohemeng and Astush Gaggar, all of the Celebrity Golf Club.
