Kumasi Asante Kotoko failed to beat Tema Real Sportive in their second round of the GT Premier League encounter at the Tema Sports stadium on Wednesday when the match ended goal-less.
An 89th minute that was scored by Kotoko was however disallowed for offside positioning by Referee Seidu Baminson of Wa after an indirect free kick taken by Kotoko's Nasiru Ghani and this brought about confusion and mayhem at the stadium after the referee brought proceedings to an end.
Supporters and officials of Kotoko after the final whistle rushed unto the field in an attempt to attack the referee but the security personnel rapidly intervened to whisk the referee to safety.
Angry supporters of Kotoko who felt they were cheated by the referee, then engaged in a prolonged missile throwing encounter with the security personnel thus preventing the match officials from leaving the stadium.
The tension packed match was however very balanced as both side gave little away throughout the match.
Kotoko who were determined to avenge their painful 2-1 defeat to Sportive last Sunday threw everything into attack in the final embers but the match to get the winner but all efforts proved illusive till the final whistle.
