Female broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah and lawyer Sandra Ankobea have received the full blessing of Minister of Youth and Sports Nii Lantey Vanderpuye to work as ambassadors for women football in Ghana.

The two personalities are expected to raise funds in support and development of the Women’s game in the country.

The Minister, who admitted he was touched by the firm conviction of the two ladies in their pursuit of development of women football said he was looking forward to working with them.

“We have not set a target for the ladies, in fact, we need more money because the more they bring in the more they get,” Nii Lantey told the Press

The Minister also encouraged anyone who was interested in joining the two ladies in raising funds to come forward as it was the new direction in generating income.

“And let me say this, that anyone interested in also raising funds should come forward and my doors are always opened to such ideas.”

Nana Aba Ananoah who also showed her delight in being endorsed said that they had signed a contract with the Ministry as a standard practice to be compensated 20 % of any amount they brought in.

“I want to thank the Minister and also state that this is not exclusive to Nana Aba and Sandra Alone,” She said

“In our meeting with him, we told him that for every cedi we bring we wanted a commission of 20% and we must emphasize that point as well.”

Sandra Akobea called on every stakeholder to join the bandwagon to raise the standard of women football in Ghana.

“I am sure we are all aware of the issues the women face and they have not been treated fairly.”

“We all have to pull resources together and ensure that we are able to raise resources for the team.”

“I don’t want to do the blame game so we all have to play our part including the media.”

The duo is expected to get to work immediately in raising not only funds but enthusiasm ahead of the Africa Women championship to be staged in Cameroon later this year.
