Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mustapha Ahmed has revealed that his outfit has held talks with the leadership of the Ghana Football Association over the delay in the start of the 2015/16 Premier League.

The Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi had announced at this year’s Ordinary Congress of the federation that the League was tentatively scheduled to kick off on the 20th of this month.

But a series of legal combats between Tema Youth and Dreams FC on one side and Techiman City and Wa African United on the other side have halted the commencement of the league.

The retired military officer has however revealed that he has taken steps to get the issues thrashed amicably to give way to the commencement of the league.

“I have met officials of the Ghana Football Association over the start of the league. They have assured me that the league will start just after the legal issues are over,” he told Nhyira FM.

“They told me they wouldn’t want to entertain what happened last season when King Faisal FC placed an injunction on the start of the league. They want to thrash all legal issues before announcing the new date.”

The minister has come under massive criticism for the way he handled football related matters upon his appointment but he appears to have swallowed humble pie to strengthen the system.
