Sports Ministry, Ghana FA thank Kumasi for massive support

The Ministry of Sports and the Ghana FA have lauded the city of Kumasi for the immense support to the Black Stars in the massive win over Sudan.

The Ghana team enjoyed unbridled support and love from almost everyone since their arrival in the city last Wednesday to finalize preparations towards the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Special thanks is also being given to the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II for urging his people to intensify their support for the Black Stars which was epitomized on Sunday.

People from all parts of the country ensured all the support required to see the Black Stars beat Sudan was attained by filling the Baba Yara Stadium to capacity.

The numerous fans that thronged the stadium were well compensated as Ghana smashed the opponents 4-0 to breathe life in its campaign to qualify for a third successive World Cup finals.

The Ghana FA’s Director of Communications Ibrahim Sannie-Daara was emphatic of his outfit’s appreciation of the enjoyed support after the game.

“On behalf of the Ministry for Youth and Sports, the Ghana Football Association and the players of the Black Stars and the technical team, we want to send our sincere thanks to the people of Ghana for the massive show of support they have offered the team since we began camping,” he said.

“We also want to offer our sincere thanks to the Otumfour Asantehene for the good words, the encouragement and the show of support he offered the team and the encouragement he gave to the people of Kumasi to come out here and support the Black Stars.

“People came out in their numbers to support the team, not only people from Kumasi but from all parts of the country.

“We are grateful to the media also for the support they offered us since we started here,” he added.
