Sports Ministry salutes Nyantakyi and Nunoo Mensah

Ghana’s Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah has on behalf of the Government and the Ministry congratulated Kwesi Nyantakyi and Ben Nunoo Mensah, for their separate election successes, last week.

Nyantakyi, president of Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been re-elected to a four year second term to the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) Executive Council, while Ben Nunoo Mensah has been elected as the new president for Ghana Olympics Committee (GOC).

In a separate congratulatory message to Nyantakyi and Nunoo Mensah and copied to Starr Sports, it emphasized on their commitment to the development to sports in Ghana.

“Your re-election to the FIFA Executive Council is undoubtedly a testament of your commitment, dedication and contribution to the development of the game, not only in Ghana but on the African continent.

The release, which was signed by Elvis Adjei-Baah, Head of Public Relations at MOYS, also promised of the ministry’s support for Nyantekyi’s experience to have a bearing on Ghana sports.

“As you embark upon your responsibilities on the Council, we wish to assure you of the much-needed support and hope that you will bring your diverse experience to bear on your new position to further develop the fortunes of Ghana football”.

According to the release Nunoo Mensah’s victory is a sign of confidence in him, which should inspire him to work hard for Ghana. “Your victory signifies the confidence of the country’s recognized sports federation have in you to lead the resurgence of sports in the country.

“As an admirable sports administrator and having excelled as the President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), it is the expectations of the Ministry that your rich and vast experience in sports, would help accelerate the development of sports in Ghana.

“This new direction we believe would ensure the necessary reforms that are needed to improve the performances of the various sporting disciplines. “On this note, we wish Nunoo Mensah and his team the best at the helm of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC)”. The release stated.
