Starlets Thrashed!

Mohammed Polo’s Golden Stars Academy on Thursday gave the national under seventeen side The Black Starlets a lesson in football when they beat Coach Afranies side by 4 goals to 2 at the Red Bull Soccer Academy grounds at Sogakope.

The starlets opened their account with a goal in the first half before the very impressive Golden Stars equalized just before half time.

The second half started with the Golden Stars playing some very delightful and impressive football with Golden Stars striker Emmanuel Asante causing problems for the starlets with his pace upfront.

It was no wonder he found the net again midway through the second half. The starlets then stepped up their game and were rewarded with an equalizer in the 30th minute but the Golden stars responded with some delightful inter play between Yassir Hannif and Asante before Yassir put the Golden stars ahead again with a lovely ground shot.

Portsmouth bound 14 year old Hashim finished off the starlets with a sweet left footer to leave the starlets with a humiliating 4-2 defeat.

After the game, the head coach of Starlets Grand Medalist E.K Nana Afranie commended the Golden Stars for their performance and said he would be talking to Mohammed Polo about including some of the players in the Starlets squad despite presenting his final list to the FA.
