Stars have made Ghana, Africa proud

Kumasi, July 5, GNA - Ashanti Regional branch of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has congratulated the senior national team, the Black Stars, for their gallant and master-class performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa.

Mr. Samuel Kwabena Danso, Regional chairman of the CPP, said the team deserved praise for the sublime skills and passion they displayed, "which endeared them not only to Ghanaians but Africa and soccer fans from across the world."

He commended President John Evans Atta Mills for the encouragement and inspiration he gave to the team.

Mr. Danso told GNA Sport in Kumasi that he has no doubt that given adequate preparation and organization, Ghana could become the first African nation to win the World Cup. He said "What is now left is for the country's football controlling body to capitalize on the momentum and build a solid Under-20 side to feed the senior team."

Ghana agonizingly lost to Uruguay in a 4-2 penalty shoot-out after 120 minutes of gruelling match. 6 July 10
