After their sterling performance at the just-ended Germany 2006 World Cup tournament, Ghana's Black Stars will take on the Hawks of Togo in an international friendly at Griffin Park, Brentford, in the United Kingdom tomorrow.

Most definitely, the game presents the Ghanaians with the opportunity to pay their opponents back in their own coin, having lost 0-1 to the Togolese in a pre-tournament friendly in Egypt last January.

Besides the high level of revenge in the camp of the Stars, they enter the game to guard against the aura of excellent play and invincibility they carved for themselves at the world showpiece.

More encouragingly, the return of mid-field dynamo, Laryea Kingston to international football makes the already formidable midfield a more potent one.

It will be Laryea, the locomotive Moscow player's first game for Ghana since January and he seems determined to rewrite his name in the good books of the technical handlers.

The Stars will be playing without stalwart defender, John Mensah, who is nursing an injury but caretaker coach, Sellas Tetteh will be expected to partner veteran Samuel Osei Kufuor and Shilla Illiasu in central defence to take care of business.

Also to be missing in tomorrow's showdown are striker Asamoah Gyan, goalkeeper George Owu, Otto Addo and Hans Adu Sarpei.

That notwithstanding, the Stephen Appiahs, Michael Essiens, Sulley Muntaris, John Paintsils, Habib Mohammeds, Matthew Amoahs, Richard Kingstons and others are combat ready to act as worthy ambassadors.

In a telephone interview before Coach Sellas Tetteh emplaned for London he sounded positive. "Although the team has not been together for sometime, I believe the tactical tutorials they received under former Serbian coach, Ratomir Doya Djukovic and myself are still fresh in their minds to replicate what they demonstrated in Germany.

" The boys are determined to give their best shot to maintain the high profile football they showcased at the last World Cup, the coach said.

The rest of the players among the 19-member squad are Emmanuel Addoquaye Pappoe, Dan Quaye, Razak Pimpong, Issah Ahmed, Derek Boateng, Eric Addo, Haminu Dramani and Switzerland-based Alex Tachie-Menson and goalkeeper Sammy Adjei.

For the Togolese, a win will not only confirm their dominance over the Ghanaians in recent times, but will placate their fans after their not-too-impressive performance at the Football Mundial.

Tomorrow's clash will be Ghana's fourth in London recently, having played against Senegal at the same venue and against Jamaica at Leicester and South Korea at Edinburgh in pre-world cup preparatory exercises.
