The 2018 Sprite Ball Championship is days away from tipping off and ahead of Ghana’s biggest high school basketball competition, Basketballghana.com takes a close look at some numbers to loom out for in the anticipated competition.
312 male and female players will compete in the tournament with this year’s edition set to be the 12th edition in the 11 years; Sprite Ball was first held in 2007.
The competition will be held at the El Wak Stadium in Accra in a three Day period from Thursday January 4 to Saturday, January 6.
16 schools are due to compete in the male division including defending champions Opoku Ware School and Western Region representative and national bronze medalist St. John’s School.
10 schools are due to compete in the female division including defending champions Wesley Girls High School and Ashanti Region representative and national silver medalist Kumasi Girls High School.
Mfantsipim School will be battling to clinch its fifth national championship when it competes in this year’s edition; the team holds the record number of titles with four wins.
