Vice Chairperson of the Women’s League Board, Rosalind Amoh has cautioned the CAF/FIFA Liaison Team to stay away from the organization of the African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) to be staged in Ghana.
This comes after the FIFA/CAF liaison team wrote to CAF to consider Baba Yara stadium and the Tamale stadium as alternative host venues of the competition without informing the Local Organizing Committee (LOC)
“I think the Liaison team shouldn’t concern themselves with the organization of the AWCON. They should allow the LOC to do their job. The mandate of the liaison team was to look after the international competitions not local competitions” Amoh told Happy FM
“When things don’t go right, the LOC will be blamed not the liaison team so they should please allow the LOC to do their job,” she added
Amoh also confirmed the venues selected by CAF for the staging of the tournament.
“I got a text from CAF indicating that Accra Sports Stadium and Cape Coast Stadium will be the venues for the tournament.”
Ghana was handed the opportunity to host Africa’s Women’s premier football competition for the first time two years ago.
The competition is expected to kick off on November 17, 2018.
