‘Stephen Adams is not mature yet for the Black Stars’

Former Hearts of Oak goalkeepers’ trainer, Abubakar Damba says it is too early for some Ghanaians to assume Stephen Adams is a Black Stars material.

The 24-year-old has conceded just one goal out of four matches at the ongoing CHAN tournament in South Africa.

As it stands now, the only obvious vacant slot in the Black Stars set-up available to the domestic players is third spot in the goalkeeping department, with Adam Kwarasey and Fatau Dauda set to secure their places.

Some Ghanaians have already started clamouring for Adams after monitoring his performances at the CHAN.

But Damba thinks the calls are misplaced.

“He needs to learn from the sidelines, before he can be ripped for the main Black Stars team, but I think he is a prospect in the near future, so he needs to be encouraged.

“If he is rushed and unfortunately things don’t go on well, we will kill his spirit and that will be the end for him” he told Kumasi based, Metro Fm.

Adams won the Ghana Premier League title with Aduana Stars in 2010.
