Former Ghana international, Derek Boateng, has tipped Stephen Appiah to become the President of the Ghana Football Association.

Derek Boateng, who has not been impressed with the state of Ghana football, believes ex-players are capable of running the affairs of the GFA.

He noted that the former Black Stars captain is someone who commands a lot of respect from the footballing world and has great leadership qualities.

In his interview on Accra-based Kingdom FM, he said, "Someone of Stephen Appiah's calibre is capable of running Ghana football as the Football Association president, and he would do it better."

"Both former and current players respect him, and he understands everything."

"During our playing days with the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah's work rate, even during training, was astonishing and motivated the entire team to push harder," he added.

"We always trained with intensity as if we were in a match, but we would joke around after the session because it was so tough."

Ghana's former players have always refrained from competing in the GFA positions.
