Stevanovic refuses to quit

Goran Stevanovic has declared he will not resign, leaving his future in the hands of the Ghana FA after the 2012 Nations Cup disappointment.

The Serbian trainer who had consistently declared his desire to win trophies during his tenure with the Black Stars failed in the quest to end Ghana’s 30-year wait for an African crown at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

His plight was even worsened when he missed out on third place after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Mali on Saturday in Malabo.

The 45-year-old however remains determined to hold onto his job, saying he still believes he can get the desired result of winning a trophy in the last of his two-year contract with the Ghana FA.

“Everything is in the hands of the Ghana Football federation, I have more time (one more year) on my contract,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I feel good here and I want to continue here because I think we build one strong team for the future.”

The ex Partizan Belgrade coach however added, in moving forward, a thorough review of Ghana’s campaign will be made to give details of where the Black Stars fell short and how it can be improved.

“First we need to make a good analysis, it very professional, it is a good thing.

“To see what is wrong and what is good so we can explain one good way for the future.”
