Former Black Stars defender Sam Johnson has called on Ghanaian football fans to stop criticizing Ghana young star Jordan Ayew but instead encouraged him to improve upon his performance in subsequent games. He said in football is it always good to give a fair, subjective and objective criticism about individual players but to the extent of calling for the axing of Jordan from the squad in subsequent tournaments must be discouraged.
“I think he is doing great. Every coach has his own individual role for players and I think grant knows why he has started Jordan in all the three group games. Ghanaians must stop criticizing him and rather encourage him to improve upon his game. Jordan is a fine player and I think he needs more time to develop”… Sam “Foyoe” Johnson revealed this in an exclusive interview with Kojo Mensah Moshosho on Asempa FM – an Accra based Radio station.
The former Fenerbahçe and Hearts of Oak man was not happy about the way and manner in which some Ghanaian football loving fans are criticizing the Lorient striker over his performance in the ongoing AFCON 2015 at Equatorial Guinea.
In his opinion he hoped with much more determination and concentration the Black Stars can lift the nation’s cup which has eluded the nation for so many years now. He said he is so confident now in the boys especially after their brave fighting spirit they exhibited in the last two group matches.
Sam Johnson played his local football for Accra Hearts of Oak before his professional career with teams likeKalamata, Anderlecht, Gaziantepspor, Fenerbahçe, Gaziantepspor, Kayserispor. He made a total of 45 appearances for Ghana and has played in four different nation’s cup for Ghana.
