Adom TV presenter Patrick Osei Agyemang known widely known as Country Man Songo has described as ‘foolish and reckless’ comments by some former officials of Kotoko over the $240,000 fine imposed on the club by FIFA.
Kotoko incurred the fine after it was found guilty of sidestepping lay down procedure to sign Emmanuel Clottey in 2015.
The club is running out of time to pay the fine as it has until May 10 to settle Esperance or face demotion to the third-tier of Ghana football.
The judgement by FIFA has led to a clash between the immediate past management team led BY Opoku Nti and the current one which has Kwame Kyei as its Executive Chairman.
Songo who has been consistent with his defense of Kwame Kyei has criticized the erstwhile administration for creating the situation.
Songo on his Fire for Fire show charged Opoku Nti and his cohort to assist Kwame Kyei to raise funds to settle Tunisian side Esperance.
Songo told them to take the blame for the ‘mess’ as their failure to exercise due diligence created the tango with Esperance.
“You brought the foolish debt so you should stop the empty talk. Kwame Kyei can settle the debt. If there’s an account to be rendered, Kwame Kyei will do it to himself not you. He is running Kotoko with his own money so why should you criticize him”.
“You brought the debt and couldn’t pay. Otumfuo is happy with Kwame Kyei and he is at peace with him. You brought David Duncan and incurred debt, it’s the same Kwame Kyei who paid the debt. Clottey never played a game for Kotoko but look at the debt and you are there talking stupid”, Songo fumed.
