Sundowns rules out Rashid Sumaila sale

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has declared Ghana World Cup defender Rashid Sumaila is not for sale.

Turkish top-flight side Akhisar Belediyespor are the latest to express interest to signing the centre-back.

Sumaila had a successful debut season for Mamelodi Sundowns where he made 22 appearances in their title winning campaign.

Mosimane expects the 22-year-old to be with the team for a long time to come.

“It's unimaginable that we will allow our best players leave after winning the league last season,” Mosimane told Ghana’s leading football website, GHANASoccernet.com

“We won the league last season and we are looking to continue from there this season.

“Nobody gets stronger by selling his best players.

“We expect everybody including Rashid to join the lads by this coming Wednesday.”

Sumaila impressed in Ghana’s 1-0 lost to Holland in pre-World Cup friendly but was an unused substitute at the tournament in Brazil.
