Former vice chairman of the Ghana Swimming Association (GSA), Kojo Adu Asare, has jumped to the defense of the GSA’s current president Theophilus Edzie, labeling him as a competent administrator.
The former Adenta MP's comment comes as a result of swimmer Ophelia Swayne's recent outburst on her twitter page alleging Edzie is incompetent following her suspension from the national team.
Swayne was suspended from the Ghana swimming team after she accused the Swimming Association of collecting bribe from Spain-based Poku Forson to sideline her to pave way for his daughter Kaya Forson to be added to the 2016 Olympic Games.
However, Adu thinks otherwise.
“Theophilus may have genuine challenges that we all have to assist to have solutions to, rather than to leave all for him to solve. We rather leave all for him for it to seem as his private property to manage as he feels sometimes.
"He leaves his own work and sometimes pursuing sponsorship and I see the frustrations sometimes. But he has what it takes to hold, hang and to persevere,” he told Starr Sports.
Meanwhile, Asare is said to be settling the feud brewing in the Association.
