Officials of the Ghana Swimming Association are expected to call off this year’s National Open Championship due to lack of funds.
The annual National Open championship is expected to come off at the University of Ghana pool side in November.
Sportscrusader.com sources reveal that the championship is used by the Chief coach of the Swimming Association to unearth talents in the 50 and 100 backstroke, free, Butterfly and wrest stroke.
Vice President of the Ghana swimming Association Theophilus Edzie says he is saddened because efforts by his outfit to get funds to support the National Open Championship have proven futile.
“The Association has written to Promasidor Ghana Limited and we are yet to hear from them, as at now, we think that the Open championship might not come on and we are sad with the outcome.
“This is where we are now, the championship will come on if we get funds, but if there are no funds, we cannot organize it.
