Kofi Ntiamoah Nimeley has declared to play for Ghana after helping Switzerland's U-17 team to World Cup glory in 2009.

The 19-year-old was born in Ghana but left for Europe at the age of six.

The right-back then playing in midfield was integral for the Swiss junior team that historically clinched the World Cup in the 2009 U-17 championships hosted in Nigeria.

Now playing for FC Basel, Nimeley has decided to play for his country of birth despite having a fine opportunity to continue playing for the Swiss national teams.

“There is a profound feeling within drawing me to play for Ghana and I only have to oblige,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“It is always a dream to play for your country and though I have played for Switzerland at junior level, the desire is more of playing for Ghana.”

Nimeley who is on the verge of breaking into the senior team of Basel is raring for a chance to impress in a Ghana shirt even if at junior level where he qualifies to play for the Ghana U-20 team.

“I will be very glad if given the chance to play for Ghana at any level that I qualify,” he adds.

“The most important thing is that I get the chance to show my quality and hopefully it will come very soon
