TV right holders StarTimes are pulling punches to ensure the continuation of the 2019/2020 season amid the Coronavirus outbreak according to GHANAsoccernet.

The Chinese-based firm is putting enormous pressure on the FA to ensure the season continues unabated following the Covid-19 shutdown.

The shutdown of football due to the coronavirus pandemic has led to financial problems for the Asian broadcasters and they are pushing for a season to continue.

StarTimes are steeling themselves for a significant drop in ad sales revenue for the rest of the season as brands pull from the campaign and slash marketing budgets amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Already, Ghanaian Premier League clubs have received a paltry $30,000 as partial payment from StarTimes since acquiring the rights for the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

StarTimes, a major partner of the Ghana Football Association has been directly impacted by the Coronavirus.

Now fresh reports are emerging that the pay-per-view channel is putting intense pressure on the Ghana FA to continue the season as they aim to recover lost revenue.

The majority of clubs especially those in the bottom-half, want the season to be cancelled.
