Charles Takyi is eligible to play for Ghana after the FIFA Players' Status Committee gave its decision over a request for nationality switch by the Ghana Football Association and the player.
This followed the GFA's request in July 2011 and provision of all relevant documents backed by a confirmation from the German Football Federation that Takyi has never played any match in an official competition at international "A" level for Germany.
The Single Judge, Geoff Thompson's decision passed on October 4, 2011 ruled that the player can now play for Ghana.
"The request made by the Ghana Football Association and the player Charles Kwame Takyi for change of Association team is accepted.
"The player Charles Kwame Takyi is allowed to represent the national team of the Ghana Football Association as from the notification of the present decision," the decision of the Single Judge of the Players' Status Committee read.
A change in FIFA statutes in 2005 allowed players who had represented one country at junior level to play for another country if they are entitled to dual nationality.
