After confirming the appointment of C.K Akonnor as Black Stars coach a few days ago, Ghana Football Association Executive Council member, Randy Abbey has revealed that the latest changes made with respect to the 2021 AFCON schedule mean that the GFA must set a new target for the newly appointed coach.

Media reports indicated that the former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak coach was tasked by the GFA to win the 2021 African Cup of Nations which will be hosted by five times AFCON champions Cameroon.

But according to the Heart of Lions bankroller, the GFA must try and set a realistic target for the new coach and his technical team considering the fact that they now have less than a year to prepare for the next AFCON.

“The Nations Cup was 18 months away but now its 11 months. You have to consider that when delivering targets".

"We will meet next week and by that time we will have the targets set for CK Akonnor and the other coaches”.he told the Accra based Joy FM.

Ghana has been trying unsuccessfully to win the AFCON trophy for the last three decades without success and will attempt to win it for a fifth time in January 2021.
