Ghanaian lightweight prospect Richard Commey (23-0, 21 KO’s) and his team left London on Thursday for Denmark ahead of his Saturday’s scheduled eight-round contest with Anzor Gamgebeli (27-13-3, 12 KO’s) at the Albertslund Musikteatret in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Commey departed in the company of his trainer Carl Lokko and manager Michael Amoo Bediako.

The undefeated Ghanaian is the mandatory challenger to the IBF title, held by the splendid Rances Barthelemy from Cuba. Commey hopes to use this weekend’s bout as a dress rehearsal for his yet to be announced title shot.

“Saturday’s fight is part of my preparations and I’m not going to underrate my opponent,” Commey told bukomboxingnews.com before emplaning to Copenhagen.

“I don’t have much knowledge about my opponent,” he admitted. “The only thing is to go to the return ring and do what I know best. For me, my opponent’s record doesn’t matter because in boxing anything can happen when you underrate your fellow boxer.”

Regarding his return to Copenhagen in over a year, the 29 year-old world title hopeful added:

“This is not the first time I will be fighting in Copenhagen. I have fought there before so I know how the fans there love me so on Saturday I will entertain them.

“Copenhagen is a nice community and the people there love boxing and they want to see the best fighters fighting.”
