Tennis Seed Slams GTA

The Ghana Tennis Association (GTA) has been handed the blame for the seemingly dwindling fortunes of tennis in the country.

Ghana?s former number one tennis seed Gunther Darkey, in an interview expressed his worry and frustration about the apparent non-existent succession plan for the country?s tennis stars.

Gunther Darkey, who is currently on a short holiday in the country, did not mince words, insisting that the administrative policies of the GTA are not the best and that concrete measures should b! e put in place if tennis is to be properly developed in the country.

?The GTA is to blame, they have not put together any mechanism to ensure the smooth progression of tennis in the country?.

?I know they will say I?m always on their backs but let?s face it that?s the reality, it hurts me to realize that we might not get competent players to fit into our shoes when we leave the scene?, he stressed.

Darkey?s is currently ranked 968 on the world ranking after he abandoned the tennis circuit to pursue a coaching career.
