The Founder / Technical Director of Teshie Beach Soccr Club has put up the club for sale. Theophius Armah, a graphic designer and sports broadcaster with Tema based Obonu FM told yours truly it had not been easy for him managing the club over the past two years without support nor sponsorship from any quarter.

He said as a media practitioner, it has been tough going out to get news and at the same time lead the team in their daily training and taking them to matches every Saturday. According to Theo Armah, if there was some little support he could attend the matches with the players so that his effort at raising the game of beach soccer in the Teshie community would be realized.

The winner of best team in Division One of the Ghana Beach Soccer League last season who qualified and placed six in the just ended 2012/13 Championship noted that Ghana Beach Soccer has a bright future but the lack of financial support does not allow the clubs to flourish and play as expected. He said most often clubs do not attend matches due to financial constraints and supported the idea of the Keta Sunset CEO that clubs should play their home games at where they come from.

According to Theo Armah, the GBSA has also not been transparent in its dealing with the clubs and some people who are not known by the club’s officials take decisions which in the end do not help the development of the game. He supported the idea of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to take over the control of the game to ensure peace, transparency and fairplay. He hinted frequent breaks because the president of GBSA is travelling do not make the competition keen and suggested that the calendar of the season must be abided with and there should be coaches and scouts to monitor players who are performing well. He questioned why the proposed Ghana Beach Soccer Coaches Association has not lived and suspected a one man show by the president.

Theo Armah who won the best coach at Division One last season and became a member of the GBSA Technical Team for the African Championship in Morocco, but was left out said the executive of GBSA should sit up and find ways to encourage clubs than discourage them.

He regretted leading and leaving so many talented players in and around Teshie who want to make a living or earn reputation through Beach Soccer.
