Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has disclosed that he had the best time of his career at Italian side Brescia Calcio playing alongside Pep Guardiola and Roberto Baggio.

Appiah joined the Lombardy-based club on a season-long loan contract from Parma in 2002.

The 39-year-old went on to become a key member of the side in his sole season with the club, plundering 8 goals in 31 games across all competitions.

Despite going on to play for record-winning scudetto champions Juventus and Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Appiah says it was at Brescia where he enjoyed his football most - playing alongside Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and former Ballon d'Or holder Roberto Baggio.

"Brescia was the best season in my career because Brescia was a small team and when I joined them we placed sixth in the league. Nobody expected us to do so well. I had the chance to play with Guardiola and Baggio," Appiah said on Joy FM.

"I scored 8 goals the 2002-2003 season with Brescia because when you are playing with Guardiola and Baggio, they make things simple for you."

Appiah played for Udinese, Parma, Brescia, Juventus, Bologna and Cesena for a total of about 11 years in Italy.
