The first job of the next GFA president is to redeem lost image - Randy Abbey

Randy Abbey Randy Abbey

With less than 48 hours away from electing the next president of the Ghana Football Association, an erstwhile spokesperson of the GFA, Randy Abbey has proposed that the first task of the next GFA president will be to redeem the lost image of the association.

According to Mr Abbey, the investigative piece produced by Anas Aremeyaw Anas which chronicled the deep-rooted corruption in the Ghanaian game means there is a breakdown of public trust, passion and love for the game in Ghana.

The aspiring Executive Committee Member observed that the image perceived by many in the football fraternity is that the association is run by cronies and dictators.

The host of Good Morning Ghana added that the next phase of the GFA will only be successful if corporate Ghana invests heavily in the game. This, Randy says will only be achieved fairness and transparency. “People believe that even appointments onto committees are based on cronyism so even within and without there’s no belief the justness or fairness of the system.

The outcomes of games and issues of officiating can we look at ways where we can reduce the problems of officiating and all that,” Randy Abbey spoke in an interview with Joy FM.

The GFA will be going to the polls on Friday to elect executives and a substantive president who will reign for a maximum of four years.
