Black Stars coach CK Akonnor highlighted the gap between local players and foreign based players but encouraged the locals to believe in their abilities.

The former Kotoko, AshantiGold and Hearts of Oak coach invited four local based players to the national team but they will have to wait a while longer to play due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

In an interview with the GFA media team, CK Akonnor said that the locals should believe that they will have a run out in the national team.

“The locals, when you see them with the professionals [players abroad], there is a big gap and that is up to them. Of course once we see a player doing well, I will give him that chance and they should also believe that they are coming to play, not even to be on the bench."

He added: "They should believe that and that will show automatically in training. These are the things that they will have to do and that comes from the individual.”
