Legendary Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about an experience in Paris, France that left her dumbfounded.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Onua TV, Nana Ama McBrown disclosed that Europeans adore and celebrate their celebrities.
She explained that unlike in Ghana, where celebrities are sometimes treated harshly, Europeans have an unparalleled level of adornment and reverence for their celebrities.
She cited an example of how French football fans thronged the official shop of Paris Saint-Germain to buy Neymar’s jersey after he joined the club from Barcelona.
Nana Ama McBrown said she was pleasantly surprised by the long queue of enthusiastic fans who just wanted to buy Neymar jerseys.
“When I went to France, people queued up from like here to Circle just to buy Neymar's jersey. Neymar had just joined PSG, and I was in France during the summer. I saw the long queue when I was going to get food, and they told me the people were going to get Neymar's jersey,” she recounted.
In 2017, Neymar completed a world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona for £200m.
Neymar signed a five-year contract at the Parc des Princes, where he became one of the club’s top earners.
Neymar played 173 games, scoring 118 goals and providing 77 assists for PSG.
