Getafe’s midfielder Christantus Uche has slammed Spanish La Liga referees for failing to protect him on the pitch.

Uche, 21, who joined Getafe from lower division side Ceuta this season, has accused the La Liga referees of treating him unfairly during matches in the Spanish topflight.

The Owerri-born midfielder claims the referees will wave play on anytime he is kicked or fouled but will whistle for an infringement when another player is on the receiving end of the same tackle.

“First two matches or three matches, I saw it with my eyes, the referees are so bad, they are so bad,” he told ESPN.

"They will kick me, the referee will just say I should stand up. No, it’s a foul, you have to blow it.

"But if they kick another person, the referee will just blow it. And it’s so painful, you cannot do anything, you don’t have any power because the referee has the power to do anything he wants to do.

“No, he has to stop it. Me, I will fall down, they will kick me and I will fall down in front of the referee and the referee will not do anything. No, it’s not good.”

Uche is the most fouled player in La Liga this season. He was in action for Getafe when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to league leaders Barcelona on Wednesday night.
